Lower Apsuwa Hydropower Project
The Lower Apsuwa Hydropower Project is a run-of-river (ROR) hydropower initiative situated along the Apsuwa River in the Sankhuwasabha district of Koshi Province. The project’s headworks are positioned in Makalu Rural Municipality, while the powerhouse is situated in Silichong Rural Municipality. This location is approximately 50 km north of Khandbari, the district headquarters of Sankhuwasabha.
The project boasts an impressive installed capacity of 54.0 MW, contributing significantly to the region’s power generation.
Lower Apsuwa Hydropower Project is a run-of-river hydropower project located at Makalu Rural Municipality and Silichong Rural Municipality in Sankhuwasabha district of Province 1 in eastern Nepal.
Mizu Energy Ltd., a company under Golyan Group, acquired this project from the DoED in August 2020. Mizu Energy Ltd. is a special purpose vehicle (SPV) under the Energy Businesses of Golyan Group for development of this project. After further investigation in the field of hydrology, geology and topography, the project was upgraded from 45 MW to 54 MW.
